About the event
In 2024, Robert Yuchniuk was diagnosed with Stage 4B metastatic prostate cancer.
The cancer had already spread to his bones and lymph nodes. After undergoing treatment, Robert went into remission — but in early 2026, the cancer returned.
This time, the side effects of treatment were severe. Robert could no longer perform his duties after serving the Waterford community for 28 years with the Waterford Police Department and an additional 10 years as a civilian Animal Control Officer. He made the difficult decision to resign so he could focus on his health and spend time with his family.
With his resignation, Robert lost both his income and his insurance. His monthly insurance premium is now $1,500, and he fears leaving his family with overwhelming medical debt.
Robert has spent decades serving his community with dedication, compassion, and integrity. Now, he needs the community he served to come together for him.
